Betty R. Ostwald

Of Pekin, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, at the  Hildebrandt Hospice Care, Rochester, NY.
She was born in Lockport, NY,  on May 26, 1933, a daughter of the late Elmer F. and Lena P. [Breitenbach] Payne.
Betty was a graduate of Newfane High School.
Her first job was selling donuts at  the Mohican Market in Lockport. She met the love of her life Alan and they were married in 1953, then moved to Chicago. After returning to Western New York, she began her most rewarding job as  a pre school special education associate with the Niagara Orleans BOCES for 17 years, retiring in 1993.
Betty was an avid quilter making many full size and wall hanging quilts and was known for  her handmade birthday cards.
She will be remembered as the care-taker of her family and in hosting the   families events over the years.

Betty is survived by her husband of 69 years Alan G. Ostwald, three children
Paul (Maria) Ostwald, Beth (Carl) Dickinson and Lori Ostwald, six grandchildren Nicole (Mark) Thomas, John (Kristin) Ostwald, Julie (William) Webekind, Katherine (Matthew) Butch, Lia and Lin Dickinson, twelve great grandchildren Zachary Marshall, Connor and Brynn Thomas, Emma and Preston Ostwald, Elizabeth, Gregory, Mary, Peter and Thomas Webekind, Joseph and Patrick Butch, two brothers Robert E. and David R. Payne, also three nieces and one nephew.
She was the sister of the late Marion (Robert) Woods.

There will be visitation on  Wednesday from 12-1:00 PM at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 3229 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, NY, where funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Kurt D. Schultz officiating.
Memorials may be made in her name to St. Andrews Lutheran Church.
Interment at St. Andrew Lutheran Cemetery.
